The Foodbank is a charitable organization that solicits, receives, inventories, store, and distributes purchased and donated food and grocery products to charitable agencies that directly help the needy. Since its inception in 1986, the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula has distributed over 111,436,209 pounds of food to our neighbors in the community.
The population targeted by the Foodbank is made up of individuals at risk of losing their food security by nature of the fact that they live at 185% or below the poverty level. According to the most recent statistics, 71,670 people in their North Hampton Roads service area are at risk of food insecurity, and many from outright hunger, because of the fact that they live at or below the poverty level.
The Kiwanis Clubs of Division 13 invite you to attend the fun exciting event that continues to grow and benefit kids through the work of Kiwanis members. A sponsorship or donation is greatly appreciated.
All funds raised are directed to community projects for children through local Kiwanis clubs. Over the past five years, over $125,000 was distributed throughout the community, and an additional $30,000 was directed to the Foodbank!
Bill Deal’s Original Rhondels will be playing; Nixon Catering is providing great seafood, barbeque and all the trimmings; beer, wine and other beverages will be available! The event is indoor/outdoor so don’t worry about the weather! Collect and bring canned tuna/ chicken to donate to the Foodbank! Over 3,500 lbs. of food has been donated in past years.
